MAY THEY REST IN PEACE.
Please pray for the repose of the souls of those who have died, and that those who are bereaved may be comforted.
ANGELA TREW. In early December I received an e-mail from someone in Norwich informing me that in early November ANGELA TREW had died in hospital, following a fire at her home. Angela's 2 sisters BARBARA & DAPHNE are in Sydney and Tasmania respectively.
DAPHNE came over and I was able to contact her via e-mail. BARBARA was unable to leave her husband who was ill. ANGELA was a physiotherapist and was working at Bulawayo Hospital, Rhodesia when I was living there. I sent a radio request for PAM BLAKE (KENNARD), who was a patient at the time, Angela was attending her and picked up on the message about missing the Bournemouth beaches, thus discovering the Convent link!
PAT BARR (BROWNING) was also nursing in Rhodesia and met up with Angela there and again in Hong Kong, where Pat stayed with Angela briefly, at a later date.
BERNARD COX died on 1st January after a battle against cancer. He and Mary returned to England, from their home in France, in September. It was good to see them at the St Peter's Past Pupils1 Christmas Mass in the School Chapel on 18th December. We extend our sympathy to his wife Mary and family, Gerard, Mark, Graham and Hannah (Diana) and their families.
JOAN DAVIES (TUCKER). During January I had a 'phone call from JOAN'S son Alan to tell us that having enjoyed Christmas with him and his family, she was back home in Wales when she had a stroke on 2nd January, from which she did not recover. He told me how much Joan had enjoyed the contact with the Past Pupils' Association, which she had only discovered in the last few years.
JOSEPWNE (JO) COCKRAM. formerly ALPRIDGE (PUGH} died on March 29th, after a short illness. The funeral was at St Thomas More's Church, Iford. PAULINE & TOMMY BROWNING & MARY BROOKS (BROWNING) were among the mourners. JO'S children, MARK, JULIAN & JULIE ALDRIDGE are all Past Pupils. Jo's cousins PATRICIA DANIELS (PERKINS) & her brother JOHN PERKINS were present.
JOHN spoke about JO, whom they looked upon more like a big sister than a cousin, as they all grew up together in Boscombe, where their parents owned 2 hotels near each other. JO followed a career as a dancer and ice skater, touring in shows such as, "Where The Rainbow Ends," and, " Dancing on Ice." Her husband John Aldridge died young, leaving her with her three children.
With her second husband, Walter Cockram she lived in Devon, Postmistress in a Post Office and General Store and very active in the community, in Jo's later years, when she was widowed, she lived in the home of her children JULIAN & JULIE, who with MARK formed a loving, close knit family.
PADDY LOFTUS the brother of Brother Ralph Loftus and the late SISTER MARY AGNES LOFTUS, died in Australia in March. We sympathise with Bro. Ralph and his sisters who have lost two members of their family so close together.
