THE YEARS' EVENTS - 1937, Page three

Autumn Term.

September 21st.

Here we are again, fresh and eager for work, after the long summer holidays: we were very surprised to find, on our return, that two members of our Staff, Miss Keyes and Miss Griffiths, had entered the Novitiate.

October 5th.

To-day a special Mass in honour of the Holy Ghost, was celebrated at 9 o'clock. This enabled all the Day Pupils to be present with the Boarders at this Mass, which is offered at the beginning of each School Year to ask God's blessing on all our undertakings.

Our Junior Pottery Making. Open Air Class

October 6th.
To-day Father Doran, the diocesan religious inspector, visited us for our Catechism Examination.

October 9th.
There was a meeting of the Debating Society to-day, at which a paper was read to us on the subject of " The Catholic Press," in preparation for " Press Sunday " to-morrow. A stall on which C.T.S. Pamphlets were displayed for sale was put up in the Study Hall, so that we could all do our share in support of the Catholic Press.

October 16th.
Another meeting of the Debating Society: the current topic this week is, of course, the Missions. We had a very instructive paper read to us which is reported in full elsewhere in the Magazine After the reading of the paper, a discussion took place.

October 18th.
We had a most enjoyable lecture on " The Cathedrals of England ": the slides of Salisbury Cathedral brought back happy memories.

October 18th - 24th.
The Seniors were granted the privilege of attending each evening the Mission Sermons, which are being given by Father Barrett, S. J. The Mission concluded on the Feast of Christ the King, with a very forcible sermon on "Christian Marriage. "

October 29th.
We broke up for half term.

November 2nd.
The Boarders were privileged to attend three Masses on All Souls' Day. The entire School was represented at the 9 o'clock Mass, the last of the three.

November 17th.
The excitement of another Whist Drive! How we do enjoy them: this time we had a larger gathering than ever! '

Unfortunately our Diary must now close, as the Editor is clamouring to Send all the material to press. Other dates of interest will be: December 3rd; when we are having the " Lottery "; to which we have been so eagerly looking forward; December 8th, and 10th. when we hope to enjoy the Juniors' performance of a Nativity Play. " Tests " are still before us, but once they are over. we shall welcome the Christmas holidays, for which we shall break up on December 17th.

Happy Christmas to all!
