Mrs. Browning (R. de Sousa) pays occasional visits and is kept well in touch with us through all her little ones being here. Barbara and Rita are amongst our past pupils, but still very present in spirit.
Eva Cartwright finds time to call frequently even lately although much called on for A.R.P. work in Bournemouth. Winnie too drops in when she can.
Irene Dunnett who is also devoting much time and energy to A.R.P. work here in Boscombe.
Mary Dyson and Pat Everett came to the Retreat. Pat promised to call more frequently.
Jane Hayes hopes to begin her training in SS. John and Elizabeth's Hospital, where we are sure J. Hawkins and K. McLouglin will help to initiate her. Kitty was here for Pat's Clothing in July and certainly looked none the worse for hard work.
Jean Hughes - a successful member of our Staff - she hopes to present several pupils for Cookery and Needlework in the School Cert. next July. Appreciation of her good work has come to us from Queensmount where she gives lessons in the same subjects, Her brother Jack, has gone to take up an important post in Cairo.
Mrs. Miller (J. Riddle) and Mrs. Meade (L. Riddle) call in when time permits. Both came to the Reunion.
J. Brewer, M. Martin, Y. Pinder, M. Scott being more " Present " than " Past " were of course at the Retreat.
Mrs. Tucker (D. Hobbs) calls in often and gives us news of Mrs. Breaks and the family.
Barbara Vick has a post in the Municipal Buildings at Poole; in her free time she does A.R.P. work.

Mrs, Waring (H. Cartwright) has been to see us several times lately. We are pleased to have Sally at School now as the Waring children are staying in Bournemouth for the duration.
Amongst those who called during the year were:
Mrs. Watson, W. Pole, L. Shadwell, who came to Bournemouth for Mary Smith's wedding, Marjorie Wood called on Whit Monday as usual; Eileen Davies, Patricia Gavaghan, Rosemary Campbell, Dorothea Klyne, Margaret Lidbetter, Ella Strong, who is finishing her training in Bart's this year.
She has had some valuable experiences in the evacuation of the patients from Bart's in September. Sheila Ennis frequently comes to see Monica's two boys and to bring Eileen's little girl, Cecilia Walsh, to School.
Many of our Past from overseas keep in touch as much if not more than those nearer home: -
May Cooney and Queenie (Johannesburg) sent their life membership subscriptions and hope that aeroplanes will make it possible for them to attend a future " Reunion."
Doris Poole (New Delhi) has now a very flourishing school. She hopes to send us some of her pupils later when they wish to come to Europe.
Lorna Munnik (Johannesburg) looks forward to getting the Magazine each year.
Lourdes de Guimaraes (Rio de Janeiro) is still hoping to come back to England. Lakme has been very ill but we are pleased to know she has now recovered.
Eileen Neville (Colombia) sent her subscription. She too looks forward to receiving the Magazine. Already she is planning a holiday in England and hopes to be at the Convent for a Midnight Mass.
Doreen Spraggs (Khartoum): " I have been busy with A.R.P. work, attending lectures on 'Air Defence' also Red Cross lectures and First Aid work. . ."
Gladys Shorman (Nairobi), although scarcely a year out has quite settled down. She and her parents are looking forward to the time when Margaret having finished her training in Boscombe Hospital and Beatrice having secured her S.C. and perhaps L.R.A.M. for Elocution, will rejoin them all in the Kenya.
Norah Brown (Argentina) writing from the high seas homeward bound: " ` So very glad to have seen you all again and very sorry to leave England."
Sheila Murnane (Singapore): " I have been here a year now and Maire six months. We both like it very much and are settling down after the rainy season to endless sunshine."

From nearer home: Mrs. Skeates (I. Head) writes of the serious accident to her husband last summer. We are pleased to say he made a very good recovery.
Gabrielle Jeffery - still very busy - has evacuated.
Mrs. Keith Murray (K. Andrews). " I am sorry I cannot come to the Retreat this year, but I hope you will ask me another time.
Mrs. Wallin (V. Carey) and Mary Pasqual are together. The latter was prevented from going to Malaya when war broke out.
Moya Maidment has written telling of her recent appointment to Coutt's Bank, London.
We are pleased that Y. Thiollier and S. Smart have chosen to continue their Elocution Classes here as they cannot attend the London Academy just now.
As many of our recent Past have known Miss O.Donnell very well and are aware of the devoted work she did for the Convent when on the Staff, we are sure it will give them pleasure to see her name here, although not actually a past pupil. She is a very true friend to Boscombe and finds time to write frequently and keeps up her interest in all her Past Pupils.
There are perhaps many more names could be added to this list but space is limited this year for all of us. However, before drawing to a close, may we ask all our readers to say a little prayer sometimes for Sister M. Alma (Felicity Rose) who may be in trouble these sad days.
She had made Profession in a Convent in Czecho-Slovakia a year ago and little news, if any, has come from her since the invasion of that country.
And now to each and all of our dear pupils, past and present, let us send one word of encouragement.
You are all thought of and prayed for in Boscombe. Many of you are " doing your own little bit." Many too may have fathers, husbands or brothers on " Active Service " or preparing to go.
We shall all be united at the Crib of Bethlehem in giving " Glory to God on high " and in praying for " peace on earth . . ."
