PAST PUPILS' ASSOCIATION - 1942 - 43, Page Two

We give a list, not complete we fear, of those in the Forces, hoping that by this means our Past Pupils may get in touch with one another. Practically all of the following either called or wrote during the last year. Perhaps those whose names are not here and should be, would kindly let us know.

A.T.S. - Mildred Briggs; Mildred Scott; Rosamond Carus; Margaret Daly; Barbara Vick; Ann Russell; Pat Everett; Betty Baker-Smith(Mrs. Smith) .

W.A.A.F. - Nell Franks; Doreen Spraggs; Barbara Adamson; Margaret Hitchcock; Shelagh Smart; Frances Vick; Patricia Joy; Eileen Farnworth; Kathleen Wildridge.

We were pleased to receive letters and news of the following:

E. Strong, Q.A.R.N.N.S., is now overseas and writes regularly. We wonder did any of our Past Pupils hear her when she spoke on the wireless a couple of weeks ago. B. Shorman is also overseas now. She wrote interesting accounts of her voyage and unexpected arrival at home.

We were glad to see so many of our Past Pupils during the year.

Amongst those who called were Betty Hunt and her husband, Lieut. B.ter Brake, R. Neth., Navy. S. and E. Cartwright; H. Waring (Cartwright) ; K. Keith-Murray (Andrews); K. Muldowney (Lloyd); K. Watson (Denholm Burke); J. Miller (Riddle); and Betty and Peggy;

Wood.

Doris Poole, on her return from India, gave us interesting accounts of her life abroad and her exciting journey home.

Y. Thiollier, now a qualified Speech Therapist. Congratulations and good luck in your career, Yvonne!

Mrs. Darby (M. Boulton), who gives us news of Betty's children, Sally, Janet and Bridget, and of Teresa's little boy.

Rosemary Rose. We are looking forward to a visit from Mrs. Rose, who has returned from British Guiana. We were glad to hear that she had news from or rather of, Felicity, via the Red Cross, saying she is well and safe.

Y. Pinder and her husband came to see us and brought their two little boys.

E. Davies and her husband brought Rosemary to see us.

Pauline Cole called before going back to the Cardiff University, where she successfully passed her First Medical.

Marjorie Lloyd. What about that taxidriver who did not even bother to ask where he was to take you at 7.15 a.m., so used had he become to your early visits to the Convent. The "Black Babies" say a big "thank you" for your last visit on Mission Sunday!

And someone else who is never far away when there is a "good work" to be done is I. Dunnett.

Mrs. Walsh ( J. Hughes), whose work as Domestic Science Mistress on our Staff continues to be marked with great success.

Danielle Chappon, like all our Past Pupils in the Forces, can only pay us an occasional visit when "on leave."

We are sure that all Past Pupils will regret to hear of the death of Mrs. Arnold, our gardener's wife, in June, 1943. She had always been most devoted to the Convent, and our deep sympathy is offered to Vincent and his three sons on the loss of so good a wife and mother.
