JULY 13th.
A Day's Retreat for the Seniors. In addition to the instructions, Father Holmes, S.J., held a Question and Discussion meeting which proved very successful, as questions were practical and of real use.

The "Under 13" Choir gained a Certificate at the Bournemouth Festival, scoring 85 marks, while the winners in the group scored 86. Congratulations to the girls, and still more to Miss Gobell, whose unflagging patience and interest does so much to keep up the standard of Music and Singing in the School.

JULY 14th.
Relaxation after the Examinations in the form of a "William" film.

JULY 17th.

JULY 19th.
End of Term. The whole School went to the Chapel to say the Rosary in thanksgiving for the blessings of the School Year and to sing "Heart of Jens, bless this place" at the special request of the Leavers.

SEPTEMBER 18th.
Re-opening day. Lots of surprises awaited us. The lower corridor completely transformed, many rooms repainted, the two Boarders' Refectories enlarged and made into one fine room furnished with small tables and chairs to match. The Senior School and Assembly Hall have a new heating system, so we shall now work in comfort in the Tropics instead of the Arctic!

Other less pleasant changes had also occurred. We missed Mother Pannell, who has done so much with us in Art and Music, and, while thanking her for all her interest and help, we wish and pray that God may bless the new work she has gone to undertake in Manchester. Mother Doherty has accompanied Mother Pannell and we are hoping that before long they may pay a visit to Boscombe and we shall see them again.

Elections for offices in the School resulted in the nomination of the following:
Head Girl, Linda Burroughs; Games Captain, Hilary Banks; Games Secretary, Josephine Simmonds; Campions Captain, Mary Allum; Ignatians, Carol Rees; Stanislausians, Penny James; Xaverians, Winnie Chang.

Two faithful assistants in the Library, who have helped for a year, were awarded Librarian's badges - Therese Brooks and Annemarie Allum.

OCTOBER 3rd.
Major Godolphin gave a talk to the Upper Forms on the Army Services for Women.

OCTOBER 4th.
Mass of the Holy Ghost. The Mass was celebrated by Father Gegan, whom we welcome as our Parish Priest. We were sorry that Father Baron had left Boscombe before we returned to school. We shall not forget all he did for us during his years at Boscombe.

OCTOBER 5th.
One of the White Fathers who was visiting the parish gave a most interesting talk on the work of the White Fathers, and the film which accompanied the lecture was in colour and most impressive.

OCTOBER 18th.

Annual School Dance. The Mayor of Bournemouth, Councillor Deric Scott, as well as presiding, took an active part in the proceedings and addressed the gathering of parents and children.

Prizes in the Fancy Dress were awarded to: 1st, A. Walsh ("Come to Sunny Bournemouth"); 2nd, Celia Hutchings and R. Tanner ("Comings and Goings"); 3rd, S. Cillo ("Japanese Lady"); 4th, F. Roper-Piesse ("Cinderella).

NOVEMBER 13th.
Mother St. Peter, of the Congregation of the Helpers of the Holy Souls, came to speak to us about work for Handicapped Children. Her sympathetic approach to the subject made us realise how grateful we should be to have our faculties unimpaired and at the same time showed how we may help children who are so unfortunate and have so many difficulties.

NOVEMBER 17th.
Speech Day. The guest of honour was His Lordship Bishop Holland, who gave the address and distributed the prizes. It was a great pleasure for all of us to see Father Baron and Reverend Mother Howe on the platform, to show their continued interest in our School.

DECEMBER 1st.
Feast of Blessed Edmond Campion. The Campions celebrated by a Social in the evening.

Christmas Plays will be produced on December l0th and the Carols will be sung in the Convent Chapel on December 17th.

Many thanks to the Staff and to all who have helped to make this such a full and happy year for us.

A Happy Christmas to all.
