Cynthia Eyeleigh-Smith, who had been doing Nursery Nurse work, is now taking a Midwifery Course in London. Edna Hooper, now a State Registered Occupational Therapist, is working in Tunbridge Wells. Maureen and her husband are living in Manchester. Through her sister, Celia, we have at last gleaned news of Stephanie de Charmoy.
About nine years ago she went to New Zealand, and actually started back for England about three years ago. However, she stopped at Sydney, Australia, en- route and has remained there helping to run a Land and Estate Agency, buying and selling land all over Australia and going to Kangaroo hunts at the weekends.
One of the happiest items of news to record is the visit to Boscombe of Sister Mary Alma (Felicity Rose) with her mother. After so many years in Czechoslovakia, Felicity was delighted to explore the old haunts again with Mother McEvoy, who came with her for a couple of days.
Jean Walsh (Hughes) and Margot Conway (Jones) came to see Sister Alma and she was also able to arrange a meeting with Rosamond and Barbara Carus. The girls now at school will remember Felicity's visit when they read the beautiful book on Czechoslovakia which she so kindly presented to the Library. Her sister Rosemary and faimily are still in Canada.
Sister Mary Bernadette (Cecilia Turtle) has written several times. She has completed her music studies and is now teaching in Nottingham. Cecilia was hoping she might squeeze in a visit to Boscombe when several of her Sisters in Religion were coming here for the Conference of Headmistresses.
Veronica entered the Loreto Novitiate at Llandudno on September 8th and the letter received from her sounded very happy. Sister Mary Godric (Kitty Coombes) was a close neighbour to us at Earls Court and was especially pleased to find her Form mate of past years at Boscombe, Sister Ruth Mary (Brown), helping on the Religious of the Cross Stall. Sister Mary Clare (Jennifer Coombes) never forgets a message for the Feast of the Cross. We were very happy to have news of her Profession and to know that Kitty was able to be present.

As we go to print, Dorothy Tucker (Hobbs) has written asking for prayers as she is to have an operation on her hip. She mentioned that Winnie Cartwright had been ill. We wish them both a good recovery to health. Mildred Briggs is still suffering very much but is so courageous. Rita Browning (de Sousa), President of the Concrozians, forms a link between young and old members, as she knows the youth through her family and has contact with the older Concrozians who are her contemporaries.
Christine Browning is Secretary of the Catholic Drama Club. Barbara Tanner (Browning) was able to come to the Christmas reunion. Richard and her two daughters are doing well at school and one of them was most helpful in entertaining the babies at the Concrozians' party.
Mary Morton (Hennessy) was staying near Boscombe during the summer, so she was able to call in with the girls. One of her aunts was with them, the second one having died a few months before. R.I.P. May we offer our sympathy and prayers to Marjorie Wood and to Ann Taylor (Boys), who each lost her mother this year. May they rest in peace.
One most faithful correspondent is Avalon Eastman (Hutchings). She never fails to send a card when on holiday and a letter early in the New Year. We hope she will be able to attend some of the Concrozians' meetings this year.
A surprise visitor in September was Carol Wickham, who had just returned from Bermuda with her parents. Carol is now studying in London to be a Librarian. Mary Hancock is continuing her Art course locally at present but she may go to London later. Anne (Burton) cabled one day with her husband and children, as they were visiting Bournemouth.
Mildred Latheron (Scott) also brought their family to the Convent when they were on holiday in the district. Another family group who enjoyed touring the Convent gardens and Gym were Margaret Manning, (Brown) with her husband and four children, who were eager to help Auntie Ruth look after the budgies. Sister Ruth Mary has this spare-time occupation, as also the collecting of silver paper for the Missions. Quite a change from History and Library!

Sister Mary Agnes (Loftus) has returned to Boscombe after spending a year studying at Strasbourg. Sister Marguerite Coward is quite a Northerner now and she sent some entertaining recordings of her children's performances. We also listened (by tape) to the little ones in the Nursery at Manchester. Sister Catherine Morton has brought a coach load of pupils from Stakes to play against Boscombe teams.
She was here to help with the Grammar School Holiday Girls during August. Benita Kent, now Art and Craft mistress at Stakes, accompanied the group. Mother Briggs is also at Stakes, while Mother Welstead remains at Boscombe, having celebrated her Diamond Jubilee. Mother Sohle is now at Springhill, still finding work to do in the Sacristy and garden. These Diamond Jubilarians can never be idle. They put many of us to shame!
Many Past Pupils who knew and loved Mother Frances Boulton will regret to hear of her death and we know they will remember her in their prayers. She must surely be enjoying the reward of a life so full of zeal and devotion in God's service.
Mother Boulton's sister, Mrs. Darby, is still diving in Southbourne. We are sure she must miss Miss Irene Dunnett, who is now at our Convent at Angmering. She will be missed at Midnight Mass this year, as she was one of the regular visitors on Christmas Eve. Marjorie Lewis-Manning (Lloyd) usually manages to "make it" also and we have to thank her once more for the beautiful flowers which she sent for the altar. Miss Kelly was not able to be present last year as she had an accident, but we are happy to say that her leg is now very much better.
Among those who came to see their families during the holidays and call in to the Convent are Annemarie Sweeney (Firmin). who brought Lawrence, John and Helen. They were accompanied by Sheila Lee, with her dog, who demanded attention, just like the children.
