The weather was most unkind but they were able to attend Mass, celebrated by Dom Gabriel Arnold, O.S.B., in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, and they enjoyed a tour conducted by Brother Damian Spivey. Barbara and her sister Rosamond have been living in Buckfast since 1937.
Sister Mary Bernadette (Cecilia Turtle), now teaching at Loreto Convent, Nottingham, included some amusing pieces of information produced by her young pupils. " `Three cheers,' said the Captain, `we have scored a terminus!' - But the dictionary says terminus means goal."
Cecilia's sister Veronica, Sister Imelda, is very happy in the Novitiate at Llandudno and still plays violin pieces which recall Orchestra practice at Boscombe. Allithea Williamson enjoys living in Oxford. Frances Adam-Smith sent a long letter before leaving Oxford to spend six months in France. She hopes on her return to get a post in Hong Kong.
Cecilia Joyce (Court) sent some very good snaps of the family to Mother Helen. She is in Malaya while Marguerite is in the States. Every Christmas the latter has a Mass offered for the Community of the Convent of the Cross. Frances Hoyle was in Los Angeles when she sent Christmas greetings, with a promise to visit Boscombe on her return.
Noreen Cassidy (Ventham) corresponds with Sister Mary Agnes (Loftus), but she seems to visit Boscombe just when Sister is away.
Judith Ventham still keeps in touch with the Convent; she has qualified as a teacher in Australia. Avril Prior (Tickle) let us know of the birth of a daughter in June.
Avril was then living at Aberfeldy. Frances Greenstock, living in London, wrote early in the year and mentioned Kathleen Kitchen (Wigan) and her small son, David Michael. Margaret Grenstock was in Boscombe a few weeks ago and called to see the Nuns.

She now has a secretarial post. Margaret was hoping to meet Susan Chable (Sutherland) on her return journey and Mary Hancock in Bournemouth. Mary is continuing her Art course and still is in close contact with Carol Wickham, who is enjoying her course in Librarianship in London.
Carol Horn (Boyd) from Kincumber, New South Wales, gave news of her farm and of her little daughter Deborah. Shuna has called at the Convent several times.
Veronica Moody is studying for a University degree in Fine Art at Perth, West Australia. She finds Australian weather a problem - overpowering summer heat, 103°F. on Christmas Day, while winters are as cold as England. Cynthia Eveleigh-Smith is a faithful correspondent and visitor.
Last time she called she was hoping, after completing her Midwifery course, to join the Q.A.R.A.C.
Dorothy Hebblethwaite, at the last lap of her teacher training course at Exmouth, is hoping to do Voluntary Service Overseas next year. As we go to print, a card has been received announcing the wedding of Rosa Iken (Hockey) in Morocco.
Cecilia Elgar also sent a card telling us of her teaching post in Arizona. Sister Mary Clare (Jennifer Coombes), now a Poor Clare Colettine, never forgets to write for the Feast of the Cross. Another most faithful correspondent is Ronaleen Lee, who is still living in Los Angeles.

VISITORS TO THE CONVENT
Ines Conrad (Lucantoni) came with her husband and three little daughters to say "Good-bye" before leaving for Johannesburg. Ines writes regularly to Miss Gobell and says they are enjoying the change of weather in their new surroundings.
Angela Browning (Knott) returned to tour the school with her husband. She saw many changes after ten years. We offer our sympathy to her and her parents on the sudden death of her only brother a few months ago. We shall also remember in our prayers Mrs. Danagher, mother of Sheila and Monica, who died recently. R.I.P.
Pamela Lynk (Kennard) brought her husband, Timothy, Sara, and Peter to see us. She is living quite close to Diana (Heeps), and still corresponds with Angela Malfatti and Bridget Fernback. Benita Kent gave us a nice surprise at half-term when she called with her mother.
Benita has a busy time as Art Mistress at Stakes, now that the school is so large. Winnie Chang and Edna Hooper spent a week-end here before Winnie left England to return via U.S.A. to Hong Kong, after completing her Degree course.
Edna is enjoying her Occupational Therapy work and she made great friends at Boscombe with the junior Boarders. Winnie had been to visit Penny Butler, now Mrs. Evans. Penny and her husband will be going to America in the near future, but meantime, by strange coincidence, she is working in the same offices as Michele Day.
Congratulations Michele, who was awarded a 1st Class Honours Degree in Mathematics in June 1966.
To complete this little circle of friends we must mention Yvette and Annette Baugh. They have not been able to get to Boscombe, but Mr. and Mrs. Baugh were good enough to pay a visit to the convent while spending a weekend in Bournemouth.
Yvette is very happy teaching in Walsall and Annette is doing well at her Domestic Science Course at Shrewsbury. Susan Banks is now Needlework mistress in a London Comprehensive School and Gillian Sheffield is Sister-in-Charge of a Nursing Home at Mudeford.
