'A 77-year old Roman Catholic priest was buried at Boscombe cemetery on Monday.
He was Father Philip Holmes, who had been in the ministry for 58 years.
Father Holmes died of leukaemia at the Royal National Hospital 30 hours after he was admitted.
He had been a priest at Corpus Christi since 1969 and previously a father of the
Sacred Heart.
The funeral service was taken by the Father provincial, who is in charge of all Catholic
churches in the area.
A former colleague at Corpus Christi said, "Father Holmes was a great man of
tremendous determination and he worked right to the bitter end."
