This Society is the Church's arm on professional care of children with special needs in the three dioceses of Arundel & Brighton, Portsmouth and Southwark.
The Society maintains residential Homes for children and offers counselling to mothers faced with the decision as to whether to bring up their children or opt for adoption.
It arranges adoption for babies and infants, and prepares older children who have been deprived of their family life to find new adoptive homes.
Advice and help, such as respite care, is given to parents who bring up handicapped children.
The Society runs the Portsmouth Diocesan Holiday Scheme and offers an education programme through Catholic schools to make children more aware and sympathetic for the less fortunate around them and more appreciative of the values of a stable family life.
